                      Phileas > Funding for the Internationalisation of Austrian Contemporary Art

                      Phileas is an independent philanthropic anisation based in Vienna that raises private funding to support and co-produce ambitious projects within the field of contemporary art. A particular focus lies on the commission and production of exhibitions by Austrian artists abroad, but Phileas also anises and funds research trips for international curators and critics to Austrian museums, galleries and artists’ studios. Applications are now open to institutions who wish to apply for project funding in 2021. Deadline: 11 September 2020.

                      ENSAPC > Practice-led Research PhDs in Arts and Heritage (France)

                      The Humanities, Creation, Heritage University Research School at the CY Cergy Paris University is inviting applications for practice- and project-led PhDs starting in the 2020 academic year. There are six strands: Applications should be made to one of six strands: Practice and theory of literary creation; Architecture; Landscape; Arts; Heritage conversation-restoration; Heritage studies. Applications are only open to graduate students with a master’s degree, or equivalent, in their chosen field. Deadline: 30 April 2020.

                      GMEA – National Centre for Music Creation of Albi-Tarn > Residency Programme 2021 (France)

                      The GMEA – National Centre for Music Creation of Albi-Tarn has opened applications for residencies in 2021. The residencies aim to permit creation, recording, or research and are open to artists with contemporary sound and experimental music practices. The centre will welcome musicians or ensembles of one to seven persons for residency sessions of five days. Residencies will be arranged to take place between 4 January and 17 December 2021. Deadline: 31 May 2020.

                      Centre for Applied Human Rights > Art + Activism Fund

                      The Centre for Applied Human Rights (CAHR), through a grant from the Open Society Foundations, has set up a fund – Arctivists – to support activists and artists across the world responding to the outbreak of Covid-19 and its implications for human rights defenders, activism, and shrinking civic and political space. Paired activists and artists are able to apply for grants to document, reflect on, and imagine current and future events. Deadline: on a rolling basis.

                      Yan Concept Limited > Young Yan Artists Residence Programme (China)

                      The Young Yan Artists Residence Programme is a project of Yan Concept Limited, a creative brand working at the intersection of art and architecture. The next residency will take place July – December 2020 at Yan Garden in Dongguan, China. The current call is open to artists aged under 35 who are practising contemporary art in any form. Applicants should also have a desire to develop a career in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the capacity to work on a residency project based on the local environment and context.                       Art Jameel > Digital Commission (United Arab Emirates)

                      The third round of Art Jameel Commissions aims to support the production of a digital artwork that will live online, on the Jameel Art Centre website, for audiences to engage with, regardless of where they may be, from autumn/winter 2020 to 2021. The theme of the commission is TIME. It is open to artists of any nationality or age who have links to, and a grasp of, the environmental and cultural nuances of the wider Middle Eastern region. Artists may be from or based in the Middle East, North Africa or Turkey – either living in the region or diaspora – and/or engaged in contributing to the various cultural scenes of the region.                       Call for Input for a Report on Cultural Rights and Climate Change

                      The United Nations Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights is preparing a report on Cultural Rights and Climate Change. All stakeholders are invited to submit information for the report. Fourteen questions are posed, across three categories: ‘Negative impacts of climate change on culture and cultural rights’, ‘Positive potential of culture and cultural rights to enhance responses to climate change’, and ‘Measures taken and recommendations’. Deadline: 1 May 2020.

                      Pier-2 Artist-in-Residence Programme (Taiwan)

                      The Pier-2 Artist-in-Residence Programme (PAIR) is run by Pier-2 Art Center, a harbourside facility in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. For 2021, the anisers are anising the programme around the theme of ‘Ocean: The Dark Side’. The residency will last 60-90 days, and take place between 1 March 2021 and 31 December 2021. Artists from all over the world are invited to apply. Deadline: 31 May 2020.
